Owen got a gift certificate for his Birthday from his Godfather to take a small plane ride through Lakeshore Aviation, and we finally had a free weekend to do it. It went really good, very smooth, It did clear up on Saturday, but the pilot (Mr. Wheeler) called us right around 9:30 (which we almost were going to call back) but he said we made a good decision because it was windy, he asked if we wanted to do it on Sunday instead, which we weren’t sure when we would have been able to reschedule, but glad we did. At least the sun wasn’t blinding us and it was nice for Owen. He loved it!!! He thought it was pretty cool. He got to sit by himself on a cushion in the back with me and we both had a great view that way. He would point things out to me like the red barns, and small lakes and I would show him stuff. Then we were over our house so we were checking for Neighbor Tom waving on the deck, too cute, he starts waving out the window. He thought that was cool. Then the grandparent’s houses and even Isabella’s (to see how they were getting ready for the party), then went over the lake, and he got nervous, and I think it was because I tensed up (you know how I hate flying over water – YIKES), so he grabbed onto me after that, but we settled down, tried to see McDonalds but he couldn’t see the arches so I didn’t bother telling him. But showed him the boats sitting outside the harbor. Then back over Manitowoc, but close to the 30 mins he was asking to go down, then asked where the airport was, and at least we were close enough to see it so he was watching it then, and asking where the other planes were. Landing was okay, I thought he would get scared, but he said it was Fun, that’s when he said he wanted to do it again – lol to funny. We told him soon.

First Days of Preschool

Tuesday, August 31st was Owen's First Day of Preschool. Wow, it was an okay start. We got him ready with his backpack and clothes and talked about meeting new friends and his teacher Mrs. Feuerstein. He was ready to go. We had 2 visits already to the classroom during open house and registration. So we got him there and took a few pictures, then he showed Daddy where his hook was to hang his backpack and he was ready to play. Headed to the water table (a favorite), and we handed in the supplies and Dean left the room, so I went over to let Owen know I was going to be leaving, he wanted me to stay but I told him I couldn't and he would be playing with his new friends and his teacher. He was very occupied with playing, so I told him to give Mama a kiss and I would see him in a bit, and left the room. Just as I hit the hallway, Dean asks "is that Owen crying?". Heart strings.. I went back into the room, but soon realized that Tami had it under control, so I turned right back around (with tears welling up) and left the room. I was okay, but talking about it as we drove away brought tears to my eyes again. I knew it was going to be hard. But we both faired well I think. We got back to pick him up, and he couldn't wait when he saw us and didn't wait to sing their song, ran right to me. I walked him back so he could join in with his classmates to sing the goodbye song, but he didn't feel like it and was ready to go.
Dad went solo today, as I had to work. And with Owen being Person of the Day today he had extra responsibilities. It went real good Dean said. He got to bring Emma Bunny, and a treat for his classmates (cheese sticks). And he got to sit in the special chair! So he did real awesome. Didn’t cry this time until someone tried taking Emma Bunny and he got upset. Yes, my son has become so attached to that stuffed rabbit, it’s become part of the family… has to eat dinner with us, watch TV with us, play candyland with us (gets her own gingerbread man even). So cute! But he even waited this time after class to sing their goodbye song together.
I’m so proud of him!

Home Update
So, things are going well. I know it's been awhile. Only update I have is that Owen is all about being a "Big Boy" Is taking the potty training head on, and getting excited about preschool in the fall (which of course is helping with the potty training immensly, being he has to be in underwear before he starts). But he loves his chart, and getting to stamp it every time he goes, and putting a sticker on the chart also. It's such a treat. And a very good talker. It's funny how so many people think it would be so difficult for him to pick up the language, but we realize that we brought him home at 1 where his language wasn't established as much yet, so he's doing just fine. Although he loves listening to his Russian music when he goes to bed, it seems to be somewhat soothing to him. Well that is all for now. Hopefully I will have something more interesting and engaging next time. Hope all is well with everyone and life is blessing you with wonderful moments! Take care!
